Regular Season Round 5: Maccabi Raanana - Elitzur Yavne 97-72

The biggest surprise took place in Raanana where host Maccabi Raanana (2-3) crushed league's leader Elitzur Yavne (4-1) 97-72 on Tuesday evening. Maccabi Raanana dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Elitzur Yavne's 34. Maccabi Raanana looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Samme Givens (198-89, college: Drexel) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Rian Pearson (193-90, college: Toledo) chipped in 29 points and 7 rebounds. Forward J'Nathan Bullock (196-87, college: Cleveland St.) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and Chris Gaston (201-89, college: Fordham) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maccabi Raanana moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Elitzur Yavne at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Hapoel G/A. Elitzur Yavne will play next round against Hapoel B/S trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Maccabi Raanana will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Hasharon in Hod Hasharon.
