Regular Season Round 7: Scafati - Latina Basket 93-65

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Scafati as it allowed them to take a leadership position in A2. Scafati smashed 4th placed Latina Basket at home 93-65. The game was mostly controlled by Scafati. Latina Basket managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Latina Basket 37-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Scafati shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. It was a great evening for guard Marco Portannese (192-89, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Josh Mayo (181-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) helped adding 16 points and 7 assists. Four Scafati players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center William Mosley (203-89, college: Northwestern St.) responded with 13 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Riccardo Tavernelli (190-91) scored 8 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Latina Basket at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Latina Basket will play next round against strong Novipiu Casale trying to get back on the winning streak. Scafati will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Agropoli on the road.
