Regular Season Round 3: Paulistano - B.Cearense 108-101

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Paulistano's (2-0) home victory over SKY/Basquete (1-2) 108-101. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-16. But SKY/Basquete won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Paulistano forced 24 SKY/Basquete turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by SKY/Basquete helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Luis Felipe Gruber (206-85) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Paulistano's coach Gustavo Conti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international guard Eduardo Machado (193-82) came up with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international Audrei Parisotto (196-84) added 25 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) respectively for SKY/Basquete in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Paulistano's next round opponent will be Universo/Vitoria (#12) in Salvador which should be an easy win for them. SKY/Basquete will play on the road against Liga Sorocaba (#15) in Sorocabana and hope to win that game.
