Regular Season Round 5: Arak - Samen 73-69

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Samen (3-2) against eighth ranked Arak (3-2) on Thursday night. Visiting Samen was defeated by Arak in a tough game in Arak 69-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Samen. It looked good early as Samen took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Arak had a 18-9 second period charge getting the lead and Samen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-73. International center Asghar Kardoust (212-86) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and Majid Salehi-Bozorgi accounted for 17 points. Four Arak players scored in double figures. International point guard Erfan Nasajpour (177-84) came up with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals and Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) added 19 points respectively for Samen in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Arak moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Samen. Arak will play against league's leader Chemidor in Tehran in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Samen will play at home against Azad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
