There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Matera (2-5) beat at home higher ranked Bologna Etern. (3-4) 71-59 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Matera. Bologna Etern. was better in third quarter 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Matera forced 23 Bologna Etern. turnovers. It was a great evening for British forward Ashley Hamilton (201-88, college: Loyola Mary) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds. Nigerian-American swingman Stan Okoye (197-91, college: VMI) helped adding 9 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Ed Daniel (201-90, college: Murray St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and forward Davide Raucci (196-90, agency: Players Group) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Matera moved-up to fourteenth place in A2. Newly promoted Bologna Etern. dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Matera will face Recanati (#15) on the road in the next round.
