Regular Season Round 5: Ayandeh Sazan - Naft Abadan 78-84
Date: November 12, 2015
Bottom-ranked Ayandeh Sazan (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked Naft Abadan (4-1) 84-78. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. It was a great shooting night for Naft Abadan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. 26 personal fouls committed by Ayandeh Sazan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Bosnian point guard Zlatko Jovanovic (181-84, agency: Beo Basket) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points. The former international center Mohammad Shahsavand (210-77) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Naft Abadan players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Iman Zandi (188-81) answered with 31 points and 4 steals and power forward Amir Abbas Mohabbat (200-83) added 21 points in the effort for Ayandeh Sazan. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naft Abadan have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Chemidor. Newly promoted Ayandeh Sazan still closes the standings with five games lost. Naft Abadan's next round opponent will be Army (#9) in Tehran and are hoping to win another game. Ayandeh Sazan will play at home against Petrochimi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
