Regular Season Round 5: COR-Borisfen - GOCOR-Sozh 117-64

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked COR-Borisfen as it allowed them to take a leadership position. COR-Borisfen smashed bottom-ranked GOCOR-Sozh in Mogilev 117-64. The game without a history. COR-Borisfen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 32 and made 33-of-42 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game, while GOCOR-Sozh only scored five points from the stripe. COR-Borisfen forced 25 GOCOR-Sozh turnovers and outrebounded them 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by GOCOR-Sozh helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Evgeni Sugonyako (199-92) stepped up and scored 31 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and swingman Evgeni Ivanov (202-84, agency: Mike Diesel) chipped in 21 points. point guard Tsimafei Viaroukin (187-93) responded with 23 points and point guard Artem Stankevich (185-95) scored 19 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. COR-Borisfen (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Grodno-93. GOCOR-Sozh at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Prinemanye. GOCOR-Sozh will play next round against Prinemanye trying to get back on the winning streak. COR-Borisfen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
