Sixth-ranked Ferrocarril O. (6-7) gave a tough game to second ranked CASLA (11-3) in Buenos Aires on Friday. The visitors from Almagra managed to secure only two-point victory 94-92. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Ferrocarril O. outrebounded CASLA 44-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international forward Walter Herrmann (206-79) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 8 rebounds. Lithuanian center Tautvydas Lydeka (208-83) helped adding 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American-Panamanian guard Trevor Gaskins (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech) with 28 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Spanish point guard Jonathan Maldonado (188-90) scored 21 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted CASLA maintains second place with 11-3 record behind leader Libertad S. Ferrocarril O. at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Boca Jrs. CASLA are looking forward to face Obras Basket (#5) in Buenos Aires in the next round. Ferrocarril O. will have a break next round.
