Regular Season Round 8: Antibes - Le Mans 76-80

The biggest surprise of round 8 was guest Le Mans' (6-2) road victory over Olympique Antibes (#5) 80-76 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Olympique Antibes. Olympique Antibes was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 27-22 charge of Le Mans, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Beninese power forward Mouphtaou Yarou (204-90, college: Villanova) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Petr Cornelie (211-95, agency: Comsport) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. Four Le Mans players scored in double figures. Le Mans' coach Erman Kunter used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Willie Solomon (187-78, college: Clemson, agency: Interperformances) produced 25 points and his fellow American import Tim Blue (205-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Le Mans have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Gravelines. Newly promoted Olympique Antibes keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Monaco. Le Mans is looking forward to face Entente Orleans 45 (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Olympique Antibes will play against JSF Nanterre (#13) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
