Regular Season Round 4: Paulistano - Universo/Vitoria 77-63

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Paulistano as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Paulistano defeated bottom-ranked Universo/Vitoria in Sao Paolo 77-63. The game was mostly controlled by Paulistano. Universo/Vitoria managed to win third quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Paulistano had a 32-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Germerson Barbosa (202-93) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds. The former international Jhonatan Luz dos Santos (196-87) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Spanish Alvaro Calvo (202-83, agency: Dynamics Global Management) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and center Renan Leichtweis (211-89) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Universo/Vitoria. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paulistano have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Bauru. Newly promoted Universo/Vitoria still closes the standings with four games lost. Universo/Vitoria will play next round against Minas trying to get back on the winning streak. Paulistano will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Macae at home.
