Regular Season Round 8: Badajoz - Sevilla II 74-70

There was a minor upset when bottom-ranked Sevilla II (0-1) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Badajoz (2-2) 74-70 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sevilla II won fourth quarter 19-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Sevilla II 44-30 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward James Johnson (196, college: Culver Stockton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and Franklin Balde who added 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Johnson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Alejandro Rodriguez responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and Croatian Leo Cizmic (206-98) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Sevilla II's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Badajoz moved-up to fourth place in Group D-West, which they share with Huelva and San Juan. Loser Sevilla II still closes the standings with one game lost. Badajoz will face Utrera (#8) at home in the next round.
