Regular Season Round 5: Sokhumi - Dinamo Tbilisi 66-62

Date: November 14, 2015
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#4) and Dinamo Tbilisi (#3). Sokhumi (4-1) won against visiting Dinamo Tbilisi (3-2) 66-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dinamo Tbilisi. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Dinamo Tbilisi won third quarter 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sokhumi forced 19 Dinamo Tbilisi turnovers. The best player for the winners was American point guard Phillip Miller (185-91, college: Wiley) who scored 25 points and 6 steals. International Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sokhumi's coach Vazha Kvaratskhelia used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The former international Mikheil Berishvili (204-87) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and international center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Sokhumi moved-up to second place, which they share with Kutaisi and Batumi. Dinamo Tbilisi at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Mgzavrebi.
