Regular Season Round 7: Zornotza - Lucentum 62-70

Not a big story in a game in Amorebieta-Echano where 9th ranked Zornotza (3-4) was defeated by third ranked Meridiano Alicante (5-2) 70-62. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-12. But Zornotza won second period 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meridiano Alicante made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Meridiano Alicante had a 33-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Zornotza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for American guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland, agency: HMS) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. Forward Jon Aramburu (204-92, agency: Duran International) contributed with 4 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Aramburu is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Congolese forward Charles Nkaloulou (199-94) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Nigerian-Greek guard Etinosa Erevbenagie (186-95) added 10 points in the effort for Zornotza. Four Zornotza players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Meridiano Alicante moved-up to second place, which they share with Granada and Moron. Zornotza at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Meridiano Alicante's next round opponent will be CB Tarragona 2017 (#7) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Zornotza will play against Sammic ISB in Azpeitia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
