Regular Season Round 8: Naron - Gijon 97-80

Date: November 14, 2015
Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Gijon (0-2) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Naron (2-4) 97-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Naron. Gijon was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of British forward Rowell Graham (197-94) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Brantley Osborne (193-91, college: Shepherd) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Osborne is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Center Armando Alvarez (199-76) responded with 19 points and forward Jorge Escapa (198-92) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gijon players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Naron went down to sixth position (Group A-B) due to points difference. Newly promoted Gijon still closes the standings with two games lost. Naron will face league's leader Plasencia at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gijon will play against the league's second-placed Chantada (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
