Regular Season Round 6: Maccabi T-A - Ironi Nes-Ziona 89-74

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Maccabi T-A (4-2) beat 8th ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (2-4) in Tel-Aviv 89-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. Ironi Nes-Ziona managed to win third quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American power forward Arinze Onuaku (206-87, college: Syracuse) notched 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) supported him with 12 points and 5 assists. Maccabi T-A's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 21 points by American guard Fuquan Edwin (198-91, college: Seton Hall, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Ironi Nes-Ziona. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-90, college: Murray St., agency: Comsport) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Maccabi T-A moved-up to third place. Loser Ironi Nes-Ziona dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Maccabi T-A will meet league's leader Maccabi Rishon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play against Maccabi Ashdod (#6) and hope to secure a win.
