There was an upset when higher ranked Alcobendas (2-3) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Villarrobledo (1-4) 85-76 on Saturday. Alcobendas trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 19-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-85 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Michael Torres (188-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Garrick Sims (203-91, college: Lake Erie) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Villarrobledo players scored in double figures. Center Jose Maria Gil (207-91) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and center Jorge Tejera (200-92) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Alcobendas' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Villarrobledo left bottom position moving up to eleventh place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Alcobendas dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Villarrobledo will face La Roda (#12) on the road in the next round.
