Regular Season Round 7: Hoybraten - Gimle 42-62

Bottom-ranked Hoybraten (0-6) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to third ranked Gimle (4-3) 62-42. The game was mostly controlled by Gimle. Hoybraten was better in second period 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hoybraten to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Gimle forced 33 Hoybraten turnovers. Strangely Hoybraten outrebounded Gimle 52-39 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hoybraten was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for forward Birte Hegraenas (177-88) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 5 steals. Forward Signe Kyrkjebo (182-95, college: Utah St.) accounted for 8 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Linn Ostengen (181-95) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and forward Sigrid Davidsen (185-95) added 8 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for Hoybraten in the defeat. Hoybraten's coach Bilal Rodgers rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory Gimle went down to fourth position due to points difference. Hoybraten lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Gimle will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hoybraten will play at home against Bergen (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
