Date: November 14, 2015
There was an upset in Velez-Malaga where second-ranked Velez (3-1) was edged by seventh ranked Cazorla (1-3) 65-64 on Saturday. Velez was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 19-11 charge of Cazorla, which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese center Mouhamadou Diop (212-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds and forward Pedro Farina (198-92, college: South Plains JC) who added 17 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Forward Ismael Sanchez (193-83) responded with 18 points and forward Javier Meras (194-82) scored 3 points and 13 rebounds. Velez's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cazorla left bottom position moving up to sixth place in Group D-East, which they share with CAM E.Soler. Newly promoted Velez still keeps top position with one game lost. Cazorla will face league's leader Andujar at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Velez will play against Coin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
