Regular Season Round 9: AZS UMCS - Artego Bydg. 47-56

The biggest surprise of round 9 in BLK was guest Artego Bydg.'s (7-2) road victory over 3rd placed AZS UMCS (6-3) 56-47 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 56-47. Artego Bydg. dominated on the defensive end, holding AZS UMCS to just 4 points in second quarter. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American Amisha Carter (186-82, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Jamaican-American point guard Maurita Reid (172-85, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jhasmin Player (178-87, college: Baylor, agency: Merit Management Group) who recorded 14 points and the other American import power forward Destiny Williams (185-91, college: Baylor) added 6 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Artego Bydg. moved-up to second place, which they share with Polkowice. AZS UMCS at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Gdynia and Sleza Wroclaw. Artego Bydg. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. AZS UMCS will play at home against the league's leader Wisla Krakow (#1) and is hoping to win this game.
