Bolzano can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Costa Masnaga (2-4) 72-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game by 3 points. Guard Elena Zambarda (180-87) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Polish-French center Karolina Piotrkiewicz (190-84, college: Liberty) chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Bolzano players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Francesca Pozzi (181-91) with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Masha Maiorano (180-82, agency: Two Points) scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Newly promoted Bolzano maintains thirteenth position in A2 with 1-5 record. Costa Masnaga at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth place with four games lost. Bolzano will meet higher ranked Carugate (#12) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Costa Masnaga will have a break next round.
