Regular Season Round 5: MIA Academy - Batumi 56-72

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Batumi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Batumi defeated bottom-ranked MIA in Tbilisi 72-56. The game was mostly controlled by Batumi. MIA managed to win second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded MIA 46-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. Batumi looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. International Akaki Dvalishvili (206-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Ukrainian forward Igor Krivtsov (201-86) chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Belarusian center Vladzimir Krysevich (209-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard DeAndre Mays (188-87, college: Youngstown St.) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Batumi have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Kutaisi and Sokhumi. Defending champion MIA still keeps top with five games lost. MIA will play next round against Energy Invest trying to get back on the winning streak. Batumi will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Kutaisi at home.
