Regular Season Round 8: Martina Franca - Falconara 74-68

The biggest surprise took place in Martina Franca where host Martina Franca (3-5) beat league's leader Falconara (7-1) 74-68 on Sunday evening. It was a great shooting night for Martina Franca especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was Alessandro Marra (-96) who scored 27 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Power forward Gaetano Spera (209-93, college: St.Peter's, agency: Players Group) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Naturalized Serbian power forward Marko Micevic (201-89) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Marco Maganza (204-91) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Martina Franca went down to eleventh position (B) due to points difference. Newly promoted Falconara dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Roma E-basket. Falconara will play next round against Vasto trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Martina Franca will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked Mola on the road.
