Regular Season Round 6: Shanghai S. - Beijing Ducks 98-93 OT

Shanghai Sharks (4-2) survived in overtime against Beijing Ducks (3-3) by five points 98-93. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Beijing Ducks won third quarter 25-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Beijing Ducks used huge pressure winning it 27-21 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 8-13. Shanghai Sharks made 25-of-32 charity shots (78.1 percent) during the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Beijing Ducks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was also dominated by American players. Point guard A.J. Price (188-86, college: Connecticut) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and power forward Bernard James (208-85, college: Florida St.) supported him with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds by power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Beijing Ducks. Guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) added 18 points and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Shanghai Sharks moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Guangdong ST and Shandong FB. Defending champion Beijing Ducks dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Shanghai Sharks' next round opponent will be Jilin Tigers (#15) in Changchun and are hoping to win another game. Beijing Ducks will play on the road against Qingdao Eagles (#16) and hope to win that game.
