Regular Season Round 6: DongGuan L. - Guangdong ST 92-88

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Guandong Tigers (4-2) against sixth ranked DongGuan Leopards (4-1) on Sunday night. Visiting Guandong Tigers were defeated by DongGuan Leopards in a tough game in DongGuan 88-92. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Guandong Tigers. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Guandong Tigers won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Guandong Tigers outrebounded DongGuan Leopards 55-38 including a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!). The other American import Dominic McGuire (206-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Priority Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 21 rebounds and 4 blocks and American point guard Will Bynum (183-83, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) added 22 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Guandong Tigers. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. DongGuan Leopards moved-up to fifth place. Guandong Tigers at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Shandong FB and Shanghai S.. DongGuan Leopards will play against league's second-placed Xinjiang Flying Tige in Urumqi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Guandong Tigers will play at home against Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#3) and hope to get back on the winning track.
