Regular Season Round 8: Scauri - Catanzaro 77-66

There was an upset when higher ranked Catanzaro (5-3) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Scauri (3-5) 77-66 on Sunday. Scauri dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Catanzaro's 20. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Simone Bagnoli (205-81) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian guard Ariel Svoboda (192-85) chipped in 18 points. Four Scauri players scored in double figures. Guard Gianluca Carpanzano (188-95) produced 18 points and power forward Giacomo Sereni (202-84) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Catanzaro's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Scauri moved-up to eleventh place in B. Loser Catanzaro keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Scauri will face higher ranked Viterbo SA (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Catanzaro will play against Fondi and hope to win that game.
