Regular Season Round 6: Wilki Morskie - Torun 90-89

The most important game in the last round took place in Szczecin between third ranked Twarde Pierniki (5-2) and fourteenth ranked Wilki Morskie (2-4) on Monday night. Twarde Pierniki was edged by Wilki Morskie in a tough game on the road 89-90. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Twarde Pierniki. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Twarde Pierniki won fourth quarter 28-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Wilki Morskie looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international power forward Pawel Leonczyk (203-86) scored 30 points and 5 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Korie Lucious (180-89, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 17 points, 10 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 assists and his fellow American import Markeith Cummings (198-88, college: Kennesaw St.) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. Twarde Pierniki's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Wilki Morskie moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with MKS DG. Twarde Pierniki at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Asseco. Wilki Morskie is looking forward to face higher ranked Anwil (#5) in Wloclawek in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Twarde Pierniki will play at home against Polpharma and is hoping to win this game.
