Paschoalotto/Bauru (3-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Pinheiros (3-2) 79-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Paschoalotto/Bauru. It looked good early as Paschoalotto/Bauru took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Pinheiros had a 18-13 second period charge getting the lead and Paschoalotto/Bauru was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-79. American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) nailed 23 points for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) accounted for 18 points. Four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Pinheiros' coach Cesar Guidetti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Robert Day (198-82, college: W.Oregon) came up with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Rafael Hettsheimer (206-86) added 17 points respectively for Paschoalotto/Bauru in the defeat. Pinheiros moved-up to fifth place, which they share with S.Jose/Unimed. Paschoalotto/Bauru at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Flamengo and Mogi. Pinheiros will play against Vivo/Franca (#14) in Sao Paulo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Paschoalotto/Bauru will play at home against Caxias do Sul (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
