There was no surprise in Tehran where 9th ranked Army (1-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Samen (4-3) 71-63. The guests were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 26-20 Army's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 71-63 at the end of the game. Samen dominated on the defensive end, holding Army to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Army 43-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. 29 personal fouls committed by Army helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Reza Khabazan (190-85) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 4 assists. Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side.
