Regular Season Round 6: L.Sorocaba - Macae 86-72

We should mention about the upset which took place in Sorocabana, where higher ranked Macae (1-4) lost to fifteenth ranked Liga Sorocaba (2-3) in a road game 72-86 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-72. Liga Sorocaba forced 23 Macae turnovers. Guard Arlindo Neto (187-86) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Gaucho Zilmer (197-86) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international Marcio Dornelles (196-75) with 22 points and power forward Anderson Mosso (205-82, college: Chipola JC) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Liga Sorocaba maintains fifteenth position with 2-3 record. Loser Macae keeps the tenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Caxias do Sul and Rio Claro. Liga Sorocaba will meet higher ranked Pinheiros (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Macae will play against Universo/Vitoria (#7) in Salvador and hope to win that game.
