Regular Season Round 11: Abejas - Gigantes 102-111

Bottom-ranked Gigantes managed to get a third victory on Friday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Abejas in Guanajuato 111-102. Gigantes made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) who scored 30 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. The former international guard Carlos Toussaint (190-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists. American guard Andre Jones (191-90, college: Winthrop) produced 31 points and 5 assists and the former international point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) added 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes (3-8) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Santos and Indios. Abejas at the other side keep the fourth position with three games lost. Gigantes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Abejas will play again at home against Gigantes (#9) and are hoping to win this game.
