Regular Season Round 5: Provence Basket - Poitiers 71-75

Poitiers can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Provence Basket (2-2) on the road game in Fos-sur-Mer 75-71. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Provence Basket won third quarter 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Poitiers won last quarter 19-17. 25 personal fouls committed by Provence Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Darrin Dorsey (188, college: Dakota Wesleyan) nailed 18 points for the winning side and naturalized Guyanese Mike Joseph (203-94) accounted for 11 points and 7 rebounds. American swingman Aaron Broussard (195-90, college: Seattle) came up with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals and the other American import center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Octagon Europe) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Provence Basket in the defeat. Poitiers (1-3) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Provence Basket at the other side dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Poitiers' next round opponent will be Souffelweyersheim (#13) on the road.
