Regular Season Round 13: Fujitsu RW - Hitachi Cougars 93-68

Bottom-ranked Hitachi Cougars (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-68 loss to third ranked Fujitsu RW (11-1) in Kawasaki on Friday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Fujitsu RW led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 30. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 36-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Fujitsu RW shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International point guard Rui Machida (161-93) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Fujitsu RW players scored in double figures. Guard Kasumi Takahashi (167-87) produced 13 points and guard Kasumi Kasumi (163-92) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Fujitsu RW. They moved-up to second place. Hitachi Cougars lost their twelfth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. Fujitsu RW will face again Hitachi Cougars (#9) in Hitachinaka in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
