There was a minor upset in Orchies where 12th ranked Orchesien BC (1-3) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Chorale de Roanne (2-3) 91-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Chorale de Roanne. Orchesien BC was better in fourth quarter 27-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chorale de Roanne forced 19 Orchesien BC turnovers. The best player for the winners was Sadio Doucoure (200-92) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Chorale de Roanne players scored in double figures. Swingman Rodrigue Mels (190-85, college: CS Northridge, agency: Three Eye Sports) produced 14 points and American swingman Jared Newson (205-84, college: Tenn-Martin) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Chorale de Roanne moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Denain. Loser Orchesien BC dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. Chorale de Roanne will face league's leader JL Bourg at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orchesien BC will play against Le Portel (#6) and hope to win that game.
