Regular Season Round 8: Cieszyn - Alba Chorzow 80-102

There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Cieszyn (4-4) was outplayed at home by eighth ranked Alba Chorzow (4-4) 102-80 on Saturday. Alba Chorzow shot 61.7 percent from the field and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Alba Chorzow outrebounded Cieszyn 30-19 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Alba Chorzow especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was guard Jakub Maksymiuk (192-93) who scored 17 points and 6 assists. Guard Dawid Weiss (188-88) chipped in 23 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Michal Kuboszek (178-96) produced 15 points and 4 steals and power forward Lukasz Kubik (201-92) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Four Cieszyn players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alba Chorzow have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group C, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Cieszyn. Alba Chorzow will face higher ranked AZS PS Gliwice (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cieszyn will play against the league's leader Polonia Bytom and hope to win that game.
