Regular Season Round 9: Sant Nicolau - Salt 76-70

There was a surprise result in Sabadell where eighth ranked Sant Nicolau (4-5) beat 4th placed Salt (4-4) 76-70 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Salt won third quarter 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Keith Wilson (191-83, college: CS Monterey) who scored 22 points. Forward Marc Sobrepera (201-86) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Xavier Montalat who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Xavier Torrent (176-90) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Salt's coach Eric Suris tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sant Nicolau moved-up to sixth place in Group C-A, which they share with Barbera and Masnou. Loser Salt keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Sant Nicolau will face higher ranked JAC Sants (#3) in Barcelona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Salt will play against the league's leader Mollet and hope to win that game.
