Regular Season Round 17: Saitama Bron. - Sendai 89ers 74-77

Eleventh-ranked Saitama Broncos (1-12) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Sendai 89ers (11-4). The visitors from Sendai managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Saitama Broncos took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sendai 89ers took control getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and eventually winning the game that evening by 3 points. Sendai 89ers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 38. American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) chipped in 22 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Janya Masumoto (183-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals and swingman Mitsuhiro Kamezaki (189-86) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Sendai 89ers keep a position of league leader. Saitama Broncos lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Hiroshima L.. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Saitama Broncos will play again at home against the league's leader Sendai 89ers (#1) to get more than just one victory in their record.
