Regular Season Round 8: Oviedo - GDKO Bizkaia 43-62

Very predictable result when second ranked GDKO Bizkaia (7-1) rolled over on the road 11th ranked Oviedo (1-7) 62-43 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by GDKO Bizkaia. Oviedo was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oviedo to just 6 points in second and fourth quarters. GDKO Bizkaia forced 21 Oviedo turnovers and outrebounded them 37-26 including 17 on the offensive glass. American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Ainara Ramasco (172-89) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Eva Oliva (176-92) replied with 10 points and Andrea Pujol (-97) added 4 points and 5 assists in the effort for Oviedo. Oviedo's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. GDKO Bizkaia maintains second position in Group A with 7-1 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Alcobendas, which they share with Aros Leon. Oviedo lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with seven games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will face ADBA (#13) in Aviles in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Oviedo will play on the road against Araski AES in Vitoria-Gasteiz and hope to win that game.
