Regular Season Round 9: Andorra II - Martorell 67-61

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Andorra II (4-5) won against at home 4th placed Martorell (4-5) 67-61 on Saturday. Martorell was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 15-6 charge of Andorra II, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Martorell to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Andorra II forced 20 Martorell turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Wally Niang (206-96) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Center Cinto Gabriel (199-87) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Guillem Jou (195-97) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and forward Eduard Boja (-91) added 8 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Andorra II moved-up to fifth place in Group C-B, which they share with Martorell and AEC Collblanc. Andorra II will face Miramar (#8) in the next round. Martorell will play against Pardinyes-L. and hope to win that game.
