Regular Season Round 9: Coin - Velez 100-66

Date: November 21, 2015
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Coin and second-best Velez had identical 3-1 record. This time Coin used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Velez-Malaga 100-66 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group D-East. The game without a history. Coin led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Velez to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Velez 41-20 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Coin looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Velez's players. The best player for the winners was forward Jose Antonio Rojas (198-82) who scored 24 points. Point guard Manolo Ballesteros (181-79) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ismael Sanchez (193-83) who recorded 17 points and forward Javier Meras (194-82) added 6 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Coin (4-1) keeps a position of Group D-East leader, which they share with Andujar. Newly promoted Velez dropped to the third place with two games lost. Coin will face league's leader Andujar on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Velez will play against Medacbasket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
