Regular Season Round 6: Rustavi - MIA Academy 95-75

Bottom-ranked MIA (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 95-75 loss to sixth ranked Energy Invest (3-3) in Rustavi. MIA was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Energy Invest players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Serbian forward Nikola Gacesa (206-87, college: TCU) notched 25 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American center Kiel Turpin (213-89, college: Florida St., agency: Three Eye Sports) supported him with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks. Energy Invest's coach Mikheil Beruashvili used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 14 points and 17 rebounds by Belarusian center Vladzimir Krysevich (209-91) did not help to save the game for MIA. American point guard DeAndre Mays (188-87, college: Youngstown St.) added 21 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Energy Invest moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dinamo Tbilisi and Olimpi. Defending champion MIA still closes the standings with six games lost. Energy Invest's next round opponent will be Olimpi (#5) in Tbilisi. MIA's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Mgzavrebi.
