Regular Season Round 9: Almassera - Myrtia 88-81

There was no surprise in Valencia where 4th placed Myrtia (3-3) was defeated by second ranked Almassera (6-1) 88-81 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-81. Almassera shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was point guard Jose Alfonso Aguilar (185-91) who scored 16 points and 8 assists. Forward Carlos Rodriguez (194-82) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was center Marcos Molina (202-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and guard Pepe Llorente (185-82) added 19 points respectively. Five Almassera and four Myrtia players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Almassera maintains second place in Group E with 6-1 record having just -2 victories less than leader Andujar. Newly promoted Myrtia dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Almassera will face L`Alfas (#3) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Myrtia will play at home against Sagunto and hope to win that game.
