Regular Season Round 11: GKS Tychy - GTK Gliwice 89-68

There was no surprise when 13th ranked GTK Gliwice (3-8) was crushed on the road by eighth ranked GKS Tychy (6-5) 89-68 on Saturday. GKS Tychy made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. GKS Tychy outrebounded GTK Gliwice 35-20 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for GKS Tychy especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. The best player for the winners was point guard Karol Szpyrka (182-87) who scored 21 points. The former international power forward Wojciech Barycz (208-84, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Tomasz Wrobel (186-85) produced 12 points and 4 assists and swingman Kacper Radwanski (189-94) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Five GKS Tychy and four GTK Gliwice players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. GKS Tychy moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Astoria Bydg. and Spojnia. GTK Gliwice lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with eight games lost. GKS Tychy will face higher ranked Rosa II Radom (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GTK Gliwice will play against Slask 2 Wroclaw (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
