Date: November 21, 2015
Leuven Bears' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after six consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (4-4) 87-83 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 24-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by American guard Andre Hollins (188-92, college: Minnesota, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored that evening 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward J.J. Avila (201-91, college: Colorado St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) supported him with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds by Nigerian center Leigh Enobakhare (206-86, agency: Court Side) did not help to save the game for VOO Verviers-Pepinster. American guard Robert Holcomb Faye (185-84, college: Radford) added 11 points and 8 assists. Five Leuven Bears and four VOO Verviers-Pepinster players scored in double figures. VOO Verviers-Pepinster's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Leuven Bears maintains eleventh position with 1-6 record. Loser VOO Verviers-Pepinster keeps the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Aalstar and Mons-Hainaut. Leuven Bears will meet higher ranked Kangoeroes (#10) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
