Regular Season Round 7: 36ers - Hawks 89-77

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Adelaide 36ers' (6-6) home victory over 5th ranked Illawarra Hawks (4-6) in Findon 89-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Adelaide 36ers. Illawarra Hawks was better in second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Adelaide 36ers made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (210-88, college: Pepperdine) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds. American-Ukrainian point guard Jerome Randle (175-87, college: California) contributed with 20 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Adelaide 36ers players scored in double figures. New Zealand swingman Kirk Penney (196-80, college: Wisconsin, agency: Duran International) answered with 15 points and 6 assists and the former international center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Illawarra Hawks. Adelaide 36ers maintains fourth place with 6-6 record. Loser Illawarra Hawks keep the fifth position with six games lost. Adelaide 36ers will face Cairns Taipans (#6) on the road in the next round. Illawarra Hawks will play against Townsville Crocodiles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
