There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Real Celta Vigo (2-6) beat on the road higher ranked Badajoz BF (3-5) 63-48 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Real Celta Vigo. Badajoz BF was better in third quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Real Celta Vigo dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Badajoz BF's 22. Power forward Laura Alonso (179-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds. Cristina Loureiro (183-94) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Patricia Zurita replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Berta Dalmau (-94) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Badajoz BF. Badajoz BF's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Real Celta Vigo moved-up to tenth place in Group A. Loser Badajoz BF keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Real Celta Vigo will face higher ranked C.Adelantados (#5) in San Cristobal in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
