Regular Season Round 13: Fujitsu RW - Hitachi Cougars 100-66

Bottom-ranked Hitachi Cougars (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 100-66 loss to third ranked Fujitsu RW (11-1) in Kawasaki. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game was mostly controlled by Fujitsu RW. Hitachi Cougars was better in fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fujitsu RW dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 34. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 43-26 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Fujitsu RW especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists. The former international power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Fujitsu RW players scored in double figures. Fujitsu RW's coach BT Toews felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Kasumi Takahashi (167-87) answered with 15 points and power forward YouLiai Yunashi-Ai (175-91) added 11 points in the effort for Hitachi Cougars. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Fujitsu RW. They moved-up to second place. Hitachi Cougars lost their twelfth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. Fujitsu RW will again play against Hitachi Cougars (#9) in Hitachinaka in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round.
