The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Valencia Basket as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Valencia Basket smashed bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa at home 92-65. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia Basket. Gipuzkoa was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international point guard Guillem Vives (192-93, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 9 assists. Forward Jordi Trias (207-80) accounted for 13 points for the winning side. Four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. Guard Txemi Urtasun (193-84) came up with 20 points and guard Jordi Grimau (196-83) added 7 points respectively for Gipuzkoa in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Gipuzkoa at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Gipuzkoa will play next round against Sevilla trying to get back on the winning streak. Valencia Basket will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked G.Canaria 2014 at Las Palmas.
