Regular Season Round 9: Betanzos - Mieres BVM 83-87

Very predictable result when leader Mieres BVM (4-0) beat on the road 8th ranked Betanzos (1-3) 87-83 on Sunday. Mieres BVM forced 19 Betanzos turnovers. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Alioune Senghor (200-96) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Brazilian center Leandro Miranda (205-91) chipped in 17 points. Four Mieres BVM players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Antonio Seijo (193-81) who recorded 51 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Jose Miguel Perez added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Mieres BVM. They maintain first place in Group A-B with 4-0 record. Loser Betanzos dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Mieres BVM will face Estudiantes L. (#10) in Lugo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Betanzos will play on the road against Ourense and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
