Regular Season Round 8: Hoybraten - Bergen 90-89

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Kvinneligaen took place in Oslo. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Bergen (3-4) to sixth ranked Hoybraten (1-6) 90-89 on Sunday evening. Bergen was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 25-19 charge of Hoybraten, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Bergen's 34. Hoybraten forced 28 Bergen turnovers and outrebounded them 64-38 including a 25-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hoybraten made 13 blocks. 28 personal fouls committed by Bergen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Sigrid Davidsen (185-95) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 19 rebounds, 4 assists and 9 blocks. Forward Linn Ostengen (181-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. point guard Sigrid Hardie (163-94) produced 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals and guard Nini Skjulhaug (170-96) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hoybraten maintains sixth position with 1-6 record. Bergen at the other side keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Hoybraten will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bergen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Bergen Gimle.
