Regular Season Round 9: Cartagena - Benidorm 64-75

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Benidorm (2-5) beat on the road bottom-ranked Cartagena (0-7) 75-64 on Sunday. The game without a history. Benidorm led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was forward Francisco Solsona (198-89) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Javier Rodriguez (202-84) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Jorge Lledo (203-80) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and American swingman Kerry Jones (201-89, college: Texas Coll.) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Benidorm maintains eighth place in Group E with 2-5 record. Cartagena lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Benidorm will face higher ranked Paterna (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cartagena will play against the league's leader Gandia Basquet (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
